Playlists to Diversify your Palate

Read on Substack

No Rap on Sundays is a monthly series of playlists that I’ve curated to diversify your audio palate and introduce you to new tracks. The playlists are a reflection of my taste as a musician, so they include different genres that inspire me. The convenience of streaming platforms has stopped a lot of people from searching the internet to discover music. This has led to playlists becoming the primary avenue for music discovery and sharing. So I’m using playlists to expose more people to talented musicians, past and present.

This series of playlists is also an archive. African Americans have a rich musical history, one that is often minimized to samples in popular music. This series started as an effort to increase engagement with these artist’s original works, lives and legacies. African American culture has influenced the world. Our musical inheritance deserves respect and appreciation.
