The Guardians
The twelve women of the Heaven’s Gate arc, drawn by Bryson the way each of them first met Drew.
Cleo
- Sign
- ♑︎ Capricorn
- Symbol
- Sea-Goat
- Element
- Earth
Cleo doesn't let people in. Most of the guardians stopped trying a long time ago. Drew didn't know that, so he walked right up to her and got through anyway.
Aria
- Sign
- ♒︎ Aquarius
- Symbol
- Water Bearer
- Element
- Air
Aria shoots first and figures out how she feels later. Her arrows almost always land. The one she sent at Drew didn't, and she's been curious about him ever since.
Phoebe
- Sign
- ♓︎ Pisces
- Symbol
- Fish
- Element
- Water
Phoebe is happiest in the water. She was already on the boat the night Cynthia pulled Drew out of the water. She doesn't say much, but she notices everything.
Asia
- Sign
- ♈︎ Aries
- Symbol
- Ram
- Element
- Fire
Asia is always ten steps ahead and never waits for anyone to catch up. Drew tried. He's still trying.
Tatiana
- Sign
- ♉︎ Taurus
- Symbol
- Bull
- Element
- Earth
Tatiana looks soft until you try to move her. She's the most loyal of the twelve and the hardest to impress, and she has no patience for show-offs. Around her, Drew stops performing.
Gina & Grace
- Sign
- ♊︎ Gemini
- Symbol
- Twins
- Element
- Air
Gina and Grace go everywhere together and agree on almost nothing. Grace liked Drew right away. Gina is still deciding what to do about him.
Cynthia
- Sign
- ♋︎ Cancer
- Symbol
- Crab
- Element
- Water
Cynthia is the life of every room and always has her phone out. She's also the one who went into the sea after Drew when he was cast away.
Leonna
- Sign
- ♌︎ Leo
- Symbol
- Lion
- Element
- Fire
Leonna decides where everyone's going and someone carries her there. Usually it's Drew. He complains the whole way and has never once said no.
Vanessa
- Sign
- ♍︎ Virgo
- Symbol
- Maiden
- Element
- Earth
Vanessa is gracious to everyone and belongs to no one. When Drew showed up at the dock with flowers, she turned him down with a line he still can't shake: the priceless is safeguarded, not commodified.
Lira
- Sign
- ♎︎ Libra
- Symbol
- Scales
- Element
- Air
Lira knew Drew back at Heaven's Gate, before any of this. They're the only two who never had to impress each other.
Selena
- Sign
- ♏︎ Scorpio
- Symbol
- Scorpion
- Element
- Water
Selena was on the boat when Drew came aboard, and she decided pretty quickly that he was hers. The others have learned not to test that.
Sage
- Sign
- ♐︎ Sagittarius
- Symbol
- Archer
- Element
- Fire
Sage is always somewhere new and always filming it. She'll drag Drew anywhere. He hasn't enjoyed a single trip, and he's in every video.
